GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell to Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Wofford, 4-3, on Friday afternoon at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Courts.
The Terriers and Spartans made it a finish to remember as Wofford ended up outlasting UNCG in the final court after the two teams were tied at three.
How It Happened
Wofford dominated in doubles play, starting with a win on courts one (6-0) and two (6-3).
Olivia Gallagher and
Raegan Mitchell earned their first win together with a 6-4 victory on court three.
Wofford took the first win in singles play on court five, 7-6, 6-1.
Juliana Craft then picked up UNCG's first singles win 6-4, 6-3.
The Terriers went ahead with a win at number six singles and then the Spartan's
Alexandra Dodashev was the fourth court to finish winning in the third set, 4-6, 6-1, and 1-6. Court one was next to finish with
Hanna Giddings going into a first-set tie-breaker, 7-6 (7-5), falling in the second set, 6-4, and claiming victory in the third set, 6-2.
Wofford secured the win with a three-set win on court two, as
Olivia Gallagher fought until the end.
