GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team travels to Chattanooga, Tennessee to compete in the Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship starting on Thursday, April 20th, at 8:30 am facing No. 1 seed Chattanooga.  

 UNCG and Chattanooga recently faced off, where the Mocs earned a 7-0 victory. The Spartans are 5-22 overall in SoCon quarterfinal matches since 1998.

About the Spartans
  • UNCG ended the regular season 4-21 overall and 0-7 in SoCon play.
  • John Gabelic and David Flisberg lead the Spartans in doubles action with an 8-13 record, playing in the number one spot.
  • Tymofiy Khrystyuk and Christopher Johns have been paired up in doubles action for an 8-8 record in the number two spot and are on a two-match win streak.
  • Khrystyuk is 8-14 overall in singles action, while Andrew Black has a 7-13 overall record in singles play.
  • Flisberg was named SoCon Player of the Week on January 24 after going 1-0 in singles and doubles action.  
About the Chattanooga Mocs
  • The Mocs ended the regular season going 16-6 overall and are 6-1 in SoCon play, which marks the best record since 1989
  • The Mocs captured it's first regular season SoCon title with a 7-0 sweep if the Spartans.
  • Chattanooga is coming off a pair of losses last week, including its first loss to a SoCon opponent (Samford, 6-1) this season.  
  • In the last 10 matches, the Mocs are 8-2.
  • Ryan Mudre leads the Mocs with a 20-10 overall record and is 14-7 in duals. 
  • Gabriel Castillo has a 19-13 overall record with a 14-3 record while playing at number three singles. 
  • The doubles team of Kerim Hyatt and Kristof Kincses are currently 15-6 playing in the number two spot, with a 21-9 overall record.
  • This season, Ryan Murdre, Hyatt, and Simon Labbe were named SoCon Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
 
The winner of this match will play the winner of No. 4 Samford/No. 5 Furman on Friday, April 21 in a semifinal match at 10:00 a.m.
