Softball Ends Season with Loss to Cal State Fullerton in NCAA Regional

CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team was shut out by Cal State Fullerton, 5-0, in its seventh appearance in program history at the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans and Titans met for the first time in program history on Saturday afternoon at McWhorter Stadium during the NCAA Clemson Regional.

UNCG concluded the season 37-22 overall, while Cal State Fullerton improves to 34-20. The Titans advance and will play Auburn on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams had a runner on in the first inning and both reached base on walks. In the bottom of the frame with two outs, Samantha Lagrama threw a laser to Jessie Shipley to retire the side catching the Titans stealing.

The Spartans were held hitless through the top of the fifth, as Maycin Brown doubled to right center with one out, but was stranded on base. This was UNCG's lone hit of the game.

Cal State Fullerton's offense erupted in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on seven hits.
