CINCINNATI, OHIO – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team stands at seventh out of 17 teams after the first two rounds of action in the squad's season opener on Monday at the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Cincinnati. All teams played 36 of the 54 holes throughout Monday morning and afternoon.
Symon Balbin stands in a three-way tie for 10
th place out of 90 individuals. Balbin led the Spartans with a total of nine birdies over the 36 holes on Monday. Balbin began the tournament by posting a four-under-par (67) in round one. After round one, Balbin was tied for 2nd with his four-under-par (67). He finished the first nine holes with a three-under-par (33). However, the graduate student lost momentum in round two after closing it out with a two-over-par (73).
Noah Connor stands just behind Balbin in a nine-way tie for 13
th place. Connor tallied a one-under-par (70) after recording three birdies in the opening round of the tournament. Connor continued his momentum into the first nine of round two by recording four birdies. The Reidsville, N.C. native, finished the second round at an even par (71).
Kelvin Hernandez made his collegiate debut on Monday with a three-over-par (74) in the first round. The freshman carded 12 pars over the 36 holes on the day.
INSIDE THE SCORECARD
- The Spartans stand at three-over-par with a 282 in round one and a 289 in round two.
- UNCG notched 30 birdies as a team over the 36 holes.
