GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team opened up its 2024 season in dominating fashion on Thursday after defeating Belmont Abbey, 7-0 at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
David Flisberg and
John Gabelic finished out doubles play first on court two with a 6-1 win over Brody Sawyer and Samuel McGregor.
Hampus Johansson and
Luke Thomson came just in behind finishing on court three to earn a 6-2 victory over Peyton Williams and Sullivan Monteith to secure the doubles point for the Spartans.
Christopher Johns and
Tymofiy Khrystyuk closed out the third doubles win for the squad taking down Zak Vince and Charlie Fremaux.
Flisberg rounded out singles action first as well on court two after dominating, 6-1, 6-3 over Charlie Fremaux.
Thomson followed Flisberg with a 6-3, 6-2 finish over Kai Lloveras on court three.
Khrystyuk secured the match for the Spartans with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Vince on court one.
On court six,
Andrew Black and Mayhew produced a close matchup, but overall Black was able to close out the 7-5, 6-3 singles point.
Moskowitz and Berguland battled it out on court five in a tiebreaking fashion with Moskowitz pulling away for the win, 6-3, 7-6 (1).
To close out singles action, Gabelic defeated Novell in a thrilling matchup that required a third set, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
