HUMACAO, PUERTO RICO – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team stands in a tie for third place after the first round of competition at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate on Sunday.
TEAM
- The Spartans finished the first round of the three-day tournament with a three-under-par (285).
- Kennesaw State and Arkansas stand in first and second place, respectively after the first round.
- UNCG is one of eight teams that still stands with an under-par score out of the 19 teams competing.
- The Spartans lead all teams with 22 birdies and are tied for second in par fours with a 4.04 average.
- The team collected a total of 49 total pars on the day.
INDIVIDUAL
- Symon Balbin leads the Spartans standing in a tie for third place after shooting a four-under-par (68) in round one.
- Balbin stands atop the leaderboard with a 3.80 par fours average.
- Noah Connor follows closely behind with a two-under-par (70), tied for ninth place.
- Tommy Lamb notched a one-over-par (73) in the opening round to earn a tie for 39th place.
- Randall Hudson and Kelvin Hernandez came just in behind Lamb for both to earn a two-over-par (74) and finish in a tie for 51st place.
- Jack Marcotte finished the day with a five-over-par (77), while Keenan Royalty tallied out the scorecard for the Spartans with a six-over-par (78).
