HUMACAO, PUERTO RICO – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team claimed second place out of 16 total teams at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate after earning a final score of 20-under-par (844) over the three-day tournament.
TEAM
- The Spartans closed out the tournament by carding a one-under-par (287) in the final round on Tuesday.
- UNCG had its best score of the tournament in the second round with a 16-under-par (272). This was the best score of any of the 16 teams in a single round of the event.
- UNCG paced all teams by earning a total of 71 birdies and finishing in a three-way tie for first place with a 3.12 average on par threes.
- Arkansas claimed first place in the tournament with a 27-under-par (837).
- The Spartans edged Kennesaw State by one stroke as they took home 3rd with a 19-under-par (845) score.
INDIVIDUAL
- Symon Balbin paced the Spartans with a final score of seven-under-par (209). Balbin closed out the final round with a two over-par (74). He earned his best score in the second round with a five-under-par (67).
- Jack Marcotte, Randall Hudson, and Noah Connor followed closely behind to finish in a four-way tie for 16th place. The three Spartans finished with a four-under-par (212).
- Marcotte moved up 13 spots from his previous position after posting a four-under-par (68) in the third round.
- Tommy Lamb and Kelvin Hernandez finished out the tournament with at even-par (216) to tie for 34th place.
- Keenan Royalty rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans in a tie for 75th place for an eight-over-par (224), jumping up 16 places from his previous position of 91st after the second round.
- Connor led all 99 individuals with 18 total birdies, while Marcotte followed closely behind with 17 birdies.
