GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team earned its first victory of the 2024 season by shutting out Belmont Abbey, 7-0 at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
Alexandra Dodashev and
Arina Babkova started off doubles action by claiming a 6-2 match over Hanley Riner and Mackenzie McCarth on court one.
Lauren Thomson and
Juliana Craft finished up second on court two earning a 6-4 matchup to Elizabeth Vollmin and Leilany Sanchez for the Spartans to earn the doubles point.
Luna Urso and
Ella Olexa closed out doubles dropping a 7-5 contest with Kaitlin Nguyen and Rebekka Collyer on court three.
Singles play was no different with the Spartans dominating on all six courts. Craft started off singles action with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
Raegan Mitchell came just in behind on court four for a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Babkova earned the match clinching point on court one over Frankee Hendricks, 6-2, 6-3. Thomson, Olexa and Dodashev closed out the match with three more singles wins on their respective courts for UNCG to earn the 7-0 win over the Crusaders.
