Women's Tennis to Host Coastal Carolina & Chattanooga This Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will continue at home by hosting Coastal Carolina on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. and Chattanooga on Saturday, March 2 with time and location TBD.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
  • The Spartans come into Saturday's contest with a 2-7 overall record.
  • UNCG most recently claimed a 5-2 victory over Queens on Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
  • The Spartans started off the contest in a dominating fashion by claiming all three doubles matches.
  • Lauren Thomson clinched the match for the Spartans on court five after claiming a 6-3, 6-1 win over Nyany Grace Tomegah.
  • Thomson is leading the Spartans with a 5-3 overall record in singles play this season.
  • Thomson and Juliana Craft pace the team with a 3-4 record in doubles action.
SCOUTING THE CHANTICLEERS
  • Coastal Carolina heads to Greensboro with a 2-4 overall record this season.
  • The Chanticleers most recently dropped a 4-3 battle with Campbell on Tuesday, Feb. 20 in Conway, S.C.
  • Aida Maria Maitrache and Cecile Morin lead the team with three singles wins apiece on the season.
  • Anna Babayan and Jesse Hollins paces the team across doubles play with a 4-1 overall record.
  • The Spartans and Chanticleers last competed against one another last season in Conway, S.C., on March 5, 2023. Coastal Carolina was able to come away with the 6-1 victory.
SCOUTING THE MOCS
  • Chattanooga heads into Saturday's contest with a 5-6 overall record.
  • Saturday's matchup to the Spartans will be the Mocs' first contest in The Southern Conference (SoCon) this season.
  • The Mocs are coming off a 7-0 shutout to Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday, Feb. 24 in Chattanooga.
  • Caroline Gibbens and Emma Peeler are leading Chattanooga with 11 singles wins apiece this season.
  • Three doubles duos are pacing the team with seven wins apiece.
  • The Mocs and Spartans met last season in Chattanooga on Sunday, April 2. The Mocs claimed the 7-0 match over the Spartans. 
UP NEXT
Following Saturday's match to the Mocs, the Spartans will take a road trip to Virginia. The team will face Longwood on Monday, March 4 at 2 p.m. in Farmville, Va., and then Hampton on Tuesday, March 5 at 1 p.m. in Hampton, Va.
