Men's Tennis Returns to Greensboro to Host Gardner-Webb & Mercer

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team will return to Greensboro this weekend to host Gardner-Webb on Saturday, March 23 at 2:30 p.m. and Mercer on Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG heads into the weekend with a 4-10 overall record and 0-5 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
  • The Spartans most recently dropped a 6-1 contest at Campbell on Thursday, March 21.
  • John Gabelic and Tymofiy Khrystyuk are leading UNCG with six wins apiece across singles play this season.
  • Gabelic and David Flisberg are pacing the Spartans in doubles action with a 5-7 overall record.
SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
  • Gardner-Webb comes to Greensboro with a 14-3 overall record and 2-0 in the Big South.
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs are on a two-game winning streak after defeating Presbyterian at home, 5-2 and Longwood, 6-1 in Farmville, Va.
  • Kim Niethammer is pacing Gardner-Webb with a 20-3 overall record in singles action.
  • Eduardo Dias and Chrisjan Van Wyk stand out in doubles with a 16-5 record on the season.
  • Gardner-Webb claimed its meeting with UNCG last season, 6-1 in Boiling Springs, N.C.

  • Mercer comes into Sunday's matchup with a 3-9 overall record and 1-0 in SoCon play.
  • The Bears most recently opened up SoCon action with a 4-3 win over Wofford in Macon, Ga.
  • Samuel Barrow leads the Bears with an 11-11 record in singles.
  • Doubles duo Marceau Fouilhoux and Nemanja Stefanovic stand out with a 7-12 overall record.
  • Mercer came away with its last contest with UNCG, 6-1 in Macon, Ga.
