Spartans Earn Nine Top-10 Finishes, Sosa Hits PR at Duke Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track and field teams sent Vicky Sosa to the Duke Invitational on Friday night. The Spartans also sent student-athletes to the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic on Friday and Saturday.
 
Duke Invitational
Sosa finished third out of 19 in the 5000-meter run at the Duke Invitational. The sophomore clocked in a personal best time of 17:21.45, which was just five seconds from the leader, Taylar White from Charleston Southern (17:16.03). Sosa's time is now sixth best in UNCG program history.
 
Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic
Freshman Samuel Barnard's personal best time of 1:51.96 was good enough for sixth place out of 81 competitors in the 800-meter run. His time is now third best in UNCG program history.
 
Andrew Hamilton also clocked in a personal best time in the 800-meter run, finishing with a mark of 1:52.88. He placed seventh overall in the event, while Glodi Mvovi placed 25th overall with his personal best time of 1:58.47.
 
Cooper Neeble ran a personal best time of 4:18.59 in the 1500-meter run, taking home 22nd out of 65 competitors.
 
Colin Keck's personal best time of 4:19.95 in the mile earned him 15th out of 27 competitors. His time best his mark from 2018, which is eighth all time in UNCG record book.
 
Ethan Long earned a top three mark in the 5000-meter run placing third out of 27 competitors. Long clocked in a personal best time of 14:41.78, which is now eighth all time in the UNCG record books. Khalid Abdullahi was close behind Long, taking home fourth overall with a time of 14:44.39.
 
Jenna Reiter was one of three Spartans in the 1500-meter run. Reiter clocked in a time of 5:00.86 which ranked seventh out of 50 competitors.
 
Emma Berrier and Kaitlyn Harrison each earned top-10 finishes by placing eighth and ninth, respectively. Berrier finished the race in 19:34.45, while Harrison ran the event in 19:37.45.
 
Up next
The Spartans are scheduled to compete at the Wake Forest Invitational, hosted by the Demon Deacons on Friday, April 19, and the Aggie Classic, hosted by North Carolina A&T on Friday, April 19 to Saturday, April 20.
