Women’s Basketball Set to Host Columbia College in Tuesday Matinee

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team returns to Greensboro to host NAIA foe Columbia College on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Bodford Arena.
 
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Spartans and Koalas in program history.

FLEMING GYMNASIUM RENAMED BODFORD ARENA
  • On Saturday, Nov. 8, Fleming Gymnasium, home to UNCG volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball was renamed to Bodford Arena.
  • This historic moment for the department was made possible through a transformational $2 million gift from the Bodford family.
  • This generous support represents the largest unrestricted gift in the history of UNCG Athletics, as well as the first associated with naming a competitive athletic facility.  
  • The University is already familiar with the Bodford name - the Bodford Family Speed, Strength & Conditioning Center was dedicated in October 2020.  
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG secured a 54-47 victory over North Carolina Central on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at McDougald-McLendon Arena in Durham, North Carolina.
  • Jeni Levine and Jaila Lee paced the contest with 18 and 15 points, respectively.
  • Rylan Moffitt paced the Spartans with 10 boards and three blocks.
  • Eight different Spartans collected at least one rebound.
  • UNCG bested the Eagles in points off turnovers (15-1), second chance points (10-7), fast break points (8-7), steals (6-5) and offensive rebounds (11-5).
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • Levine is currently second in the SoCon with a 14.4 points per game average and 97 field goal attempts.
  • Makiah Asidanya is second in the league with a 36.6 three-point percentage.
  • She paces the team from behind the arc with 15 three-pointers this season and has collected 11 steals this season.
  • Levine (14.4) and Asidanya (12.6) are both leading the Spartans in double-figures.
  • Moffitt is pacing the team in the post, averaging 6.6 boards per game and notching six blocks this season.
  • Tasia Johnson is the best passer on the squad with a 2.1 assists per game average.
  • Asidanya's career-best 22 points at Auburn this season led her to be named SoCon Player of the Week in the first round of weekly awards on Nov. 11.
  • UNCG was voted to finish second with two first-place votes in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Lee and Asidanya were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after both of their stellar performances last season.
  • The reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, Head Coach Trina Patterson is in her 10th year with the Blue & Gold this season.
  • The 2025-26 roster features five returners and eight newcomers. Four of the newcomers are freshmen, while the other four are transfer students.
  • UNCG comes into the 2025-26 season after a historic 2024-25 campaign.
  • The Spartans earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 1998. The team defeated Chattanooga, 64-57, in The 2025 SoCon Championship, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
  • The team fell to No. 1 USC in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.
 SCOUTING COLUMBIA COLLEGE
  • The Koalas come to Greensboro with a 5-3 overall record and 3-1 mark in the Appalachian Athletic Association (AAC).
  • The squad most recently defeated CIU (SC), 86-67, on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
  • Anaya Muhammad (15.4) and Makiah Thompson (10.0) are pacing the team in double-figures.
  • Thompson averages 3.8 assists per game to lead the team.
  • De'Asia Feaster leads the team with a 7.6 rebounds per game average.
  • The team is currently in fifth in the AAC standings out of the 14-team league.
  • The Koalas were picked to finish eighth in the 2025-26 AAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll.
  • The meeting between the Spartans and Koalas will be an exhibition match for Columbia College as the team competes in the NAIA.
