Women’s Basketball to Conclude Non-Conference Slate Hosting Carolina University & Livingstone

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team will wrap up its 2025-26 non-conference slate this week by hosting Carolina University on Thursday and Livingstone on Saturday. Both games are set for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff in Bodford Arena.
 
Fans who attend the women's game (who do not already have a ticket to the men's game) are able to stay for the men's game but must relocate to section two in Bodford Arena upon conclusion of the 1:00 p.m. games on Thursday and Saturday. If fans have a men's ticket, you are allowed to enter the women's games both days.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG most recently defeated South Carolina State, 77-32, on Monday, Dec. 22 inside Bodford Arena.
  • The win over the Bulldogs marked 23-straight home wins for the Spartans and makes the team 34-1 over the past two seasons.
  • Four Spartans reached double-figures in the contest.
  • Jeni Levine led the game by matching her season-best 21 points.
  • Makiah Asidanya followed closely behind with 16 points.
  • Rylan Moffitt recorded her fifth career double-double and second of the season with 11 points and a season-best 14 rebounds.
  • Tasia Johnson rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10 points.
  • UNCG led the way in points off turnovers (24-2), rebounds (41-21), second chance points (12-3), bench points (11-10), points in the paint (26-18), fast break points (14-6), blocks (4-1), steals (12-7) and assists (18-6).
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG comes into Thursday's contest after a nine-day break.
  • The Spartans are on a three-game winning streak and are 6-1 over the last seven games.
  • The Blue & Gold are pacing The Southern Conference (SoCon) in scoring defense (54.5), scoring margin (9.2) and turnover margin (4.69).
  • The team's 54.5 scoring defense stands out at 29th nationally.
  • UNCG is second in the SoCon in six statistical categories: assist/turnover ratio (0.85), assists per game (12.9), rebound margin (2.5), three-point attempts per game (24.5), three-pointers per game (7.2) and turnovers forced per game (19.85).
  • Johnson paces the SoCon with a 1.95 assist/turnover ratio.
  • Levine leads the league in field goal attempts (173) and total points (205). She is second in the conference with a 15.8 points per game average.
  • Moffitt is second in the SoCon with a 7.1 rebounds per game average.
  • Asidanya also stands out at second in the conference with a 37.7 three-point percentage.
  • Levine (15.8) and Asidanya (11.5) continue to pace the Spartans in double-figure scoring this season.
  • UNCG is leading its opponents in several statistical categories: points (63.8-54.5) field goals (22.5-19.8), three-pointers (7.2-5.1), free throws (11.5-9.9), rebounding (35.5-33.1), assists (12.9-9.9), assist/turnover ratio (0.9-0.5), points off turnovers (18.5-11.8) and steals (9.8-7.5).
  • Asidanya's career-best 22 points at Auburn this season led her to be named SoCon Player of the Week in the first round of weekly awards on Nov. 11.
  • UNCG was voted to finish second with two first-place votes in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Jaila Lee and Asidanya were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after both of their stellar performances last season.
  • The reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, Head Coach Trina Patterson is in her 10th year with the Blue & Gold this season.
  • The 2025-26 roster features five returners and eight newcomers. Four of the newcomers are freshmen, while the other four are transfer students.
  • UNCG comes into the 2025-26 season after a historic 2024-25 campaign.
  • The Spartans earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 1998. The team defeated Chattanooga, 64-57, in The 2025 SoCon Championship, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
  • The team fell to No. 1 USC in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.
 SCOUTING THE BRUINS
  • The Carolina University Bruins come to Greensboro with a 2-10 overall record and 1-0 mark in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).
  • Thursday's contest will be an exhibition match for the Bruins as they compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
  • This will be the fourth and final NCAA Division I opponent Carolina University will face this season.
  • The Bruins most recently took on the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Monday, Dec. 29 in Boone, North Carolina.
  • Jakyiiah Willis is pacing the Bruins with a 10.6 scoring average this season.
  • She leads the team from behind the arc with 18 made three-pointers.
  • Willis also paces the squad, averaging 2.1 steals per game.
  • Dearia Page stands out with a 6.9 rebounds per game average and a 3.4 assists per game average.
  • Ja'Nisha Caldwell stands out defensively with eight blocks this year.
  • Head Coach Hannah Latiolais is in her second season with the Bruins and led the squad to a 15-9 overall finish last year.
SERIES HISTORY VS THE BRUINS
Thursday's contest between the Spartans and Bruins will be the second-ever meeting for the two programs. UNCG took last season's meeting, 86-51, on Jan. 3, 2025, in Greensboro.

 SCOUTING THE BEARS
  • Livingstone currently stands at 1-10 overall and 0-2 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
  • Saturday's contest will be an exhibition match for the Bears as they compete in the NCAA Division II.
  • Livingstone's lone win this season came over Carolina University on Dec. 3, 77-41, in Salisbury, North Carolina.
  • The Bears most recently fell in a 74-40 battle against Barton College on Saturday, Dec. 20, in Salisbury.
  • Livingstone was picked sixth in the CIAA Predicted Order of Finish of the 12-team league.
  • Breasia Coit is pacing the team in double-figure scoring with a 13.0 average.
  • She also leads the squad with 11.5 rebounds per game and 19 blocks this season.
  • Ny'Asia Green is the best passer on the team, averaging 3.8 assists per game.
  • Jasiyah Crawford leads the Bears from downtown with 23 three-pointers this season. She also stands out with a 2.1 steals per game average.
  • Head Coach Queen Smith is in her third season at the helm of the Livingstone women's basketball program. 
SERIES HISTORY VS THE BEARS
UNCG is 4-0 in the overall series against Livingstone with all three meetings coming in Greensboro. The Spartans took last season's contest, 79-41, on Nov. 22, 2024, in Greensboro.

FLEMING GYMNASIUM RENAMED BODFORD ARENA
  • On Saturday, Nov. 8, Fleming Gymnasium, home to UNCG volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball was renamed to Bodford Arena.
  • This historic moment for the department was made possible through a transformational $2 million gift from the Bodford family.
  • This generous support represents the largest unrestricted gift in the history of UNCG Athletics, as well as the first associated with naming a competitive athletic facility.  
  • The University is already familiar with the Bodford name - the Bodford Family Speed, Strength & Conditioning Center was dedicated in October 2020.

UP NEXT
The Spartans will open the SoCon Slate by hosting Samford on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 7:00 p.m. in Bodford Arena. UNCG will then welcome Mercer on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2:00 p.m. Thursday's game against the Bulldogs will be Fac/Staff Appreciation, while Saturday's game against the Bears will be Holiday Theme Game (Ugly Christmas Sweater Giveaway).
