Women’s Tennis Welcomes Longwood

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will welcome in the Longwood Lancers on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG comes into Saturday's matchup with a 1-6 overall mark on the 2025 slate.
  • In the Spartan's last time out, the squad secured a 6-1 victory over Hampton on Sunday at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
  • UNCG claimed the first doubles match of the day after a win by default due to Hampton not having a third doubles team.
  • UNCG went on to secure five singles matches for the 6-1 win.
  • Alexandra Dodashev is leading the Spartans with a 3-4 overall mark in singles play.
  • Dodashev and Olivia Gallagher are the best doubles duo on the team with a 2-4 record.
  • UNCG concluded the 2024 season with a 3-19 overall record and 1-6 mark in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
  • The squad finished the 2024 season falling 4-0 to ETSU in the SoCon Tournament.
  • Lauren Thomson led the Spartans with a 9-10 overall record in singles last season.

  • Longwood is 2-3 overall on the 2025 stanza.
  • The Lancers most recently notched a 4-3 win at Campbell on Saturday in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
  • Longwood took the early lead by winning the doubles point.
  • Phoebe Mitchell outlasted Deren Ozel, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 to win the match for Longwood.
  • Elizaveta Gnilozubova is leading the singles charge with an 8-8 overall record this season.
  • Oriana Izarra and Feline Van Eijkelenburg & Alexandra Magia and Van Eijkelenburg are leading with four doubles team wins apiece.
  • Longwood secured a 5-2 match against UNCG last season on March 4, 2024, in Farmville, Virginia.
  • UNCG claimed the two previous meetings, 6-1 (Jan. 20, 2023) in Greensboro and 6-1 (March 1, 2012) in Farmville.
