GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team was handed a 7-0 loss by the East Tennessee State (ETSU) Buccaneers in a Southern Conference (SoCon) dual on Saturday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
ETSU swept UNCG in doubles to earn the first point. Martin Garcia-Ripoll defeated UNCG's
Tymofiy Khrystyuk and
Luke Thomson, 6-3, to get the day started. Francisco Lamas and Juan Andres Listo then knocked off
Andrew Black and
Devon Moskowitz, 6-4, for the doubles point. Finishing the third doubles match anyways, Pedro Cressoni and James Sim defeated
William Elmers and
John Gabelic, 6-4.
Singles action saw the Buccaneers continue their winning ways. Peter Kalocsai upended Khrystyuk, 6-1, 6-1. Lamas then defeated Black, 6-1, 6-3. ETSU extended its lead to 4-0 with Listo winning, 6-2, 6-4, over Moskowitz. Cressoni then took down Thomson, 6-4, 6-0, to make it 5-0. Carlos Gonzales then beat Elmers, 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (4), before Garcia-Ripoll won 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 over Gabelic to lock in the 7-0 victory for ETSU.
