Men’s Tennis Set to Open Spring Season Against No.9 N.C. State

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team will begin the 2026 slate with an in- state matchup against the North Carolina State (N.C. State) Wolfpack in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Monday, January 19 at 4:00 p.m. at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

 SCOUTING THE SPARTANS 

  • The Spartans competed in four tournaments in the 2025 fall season.    

  • UNCG began the fall campaign by traveling to the Elon Invitational from Sept. 12-14.    

  • The doubles duo of Sammy Presser and Alan Trbonja led the squad with two doubles victories over the first two days, making it to the final round of the Invitational.     

  • UNCG then hosted the Spartan Fall Invitational on Sept. 19-20 at the UNCG Tennis Courts in Greensboro, North Carolina.     

  • As a team, the Spartans won 20 singles matches over the three-day event.     

  • UNCG took part in the Davidson Fall Invitational at Davidson Tennis Courts on Sept. 26-27. In the two-day event, John Gabelic won all three matches played to win his draw.    

  • At the ITA Carolina Regionals, from Oct. 16 to Oct. 19, the tandem of Gabelic and William Elmers made it to the Round of 16 on Saturday before losing to South Carolina.   

  • Most recently at The Southern Conference (SoCon) Masters Qualifier, Devon Moskowitz won his singles draw qualifying for the main tournament held in the spring.   

  • At the Wake Forest Invitational, Senior Andrew Black won his singles draw, while the Spartans captured 15 victories across the three-day event in all competitions.      

SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK 

  • N.C. State wrapped up the 2025 fall slate at the NCAA Singles Championships on Nov. 23, 2025. 

  • Ninth-ranked NC State men's tennis opened its 2026 slate by defeating Campbell back-to-back on Friday, Jan. 16, going 6-1, 7-0. 

  • Head Coach Kyle Spencer opens his ninth season at the helm of the program. 

  • The Wolfpack competed in seven total tournaments in the fall of 2025 including, Carolina Classic, ITA All-American, ITA D1 Regional Championships, Wake Forest Invitational, ITAConference Masters Championships, ITA DI Sectional Championships and the NCAA Individual Championships.  

  • The Wolfpack concluded the 2025 spring slate with a 22-7 overall record and 12-1 mark in the ACC. They also boasted an 11-2 home record.  

  • N.C. State's 2025 stellar season was concluded with a 4-2 loss to No. 9 Columbia in the NCAA Championships Super Regional. 

  • UNCG and N.C. State last met on Feb. 26, 2025, with the Wolfpack taking the 7-0 win in Raleigh.
