GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will travel west on I-40 this Friday to face the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest at 6:30 p.m. at the Wake Forest Tennis Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The match was originally scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 p.m., but due to forecasted inclement weather, the contest was moved to Friday at 6:30 p.m.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- UNCG comes into Friday's contest 0-3 overall after dropping its spring opening doubleheader at No. 14 Virginia (7-0, 4-0) and most recently falling at No. 11 N.C. State on Sunday, Jan. 18, 7-0.
- UNCG competed in four tournaments in the 2025 fall slate.
- UNCG began the fall campaign by hosting the UNCG Tournament from Sept. 13-14 at the UNCG Tennis Courts. Sophia Ceden led the Spartans by capturing two singles wins on the weekend. Doubles duo Sara Kostic and Kayley Bushnell paced the squad with two doubles victories over the two days.
- The Spartans also competed at the Elon Tournament from Sept. 19-20 in Elon, North Carolina. Cedeno led the Spartans with two singles wins, while Bushnell captured one singles win in the tournament.
- UNCG participated in the ITA Chapel Hill Regional from Oct. 16-18 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Lauren Thomson and Cedeno led the Spartans by collecting one singles win apiece in the tournament.
- The Spartans wrapped up the fall slate at the UNC Wilmington Invitational from Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Bushnell paced the Spartans by capturing three singles wins in the tournament. Kostic and Sofia Somoano led UNCG with two doubles wins across the three-day event. Cedeno and Thomson picked up one doubles win on the weekend.
- UNCG concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
- Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign.
- Sydney Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
- Head Coach Mat Iandolo is in his second season at the helm of the UNCG women's tennis program.
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
- Wake Forest comes into the matchup with a 1-2 overall record.
- The Demon Deacons started out the spring slate with a 6-1 loss to Tennessee on Saturday, Jan. 17.
- The team's lone win came in a 5-2 victory over SoCon foe ETSU on Monday, Jan. 19.
- Wake Forest most recently fell to SoCon opponent Furman, 4-0, on Friday, Jan. 23 in Greenville.
- Sankavi Gownder is leading the team with a 5-4 overall singles record.
- The doubles duo of Evie Oxford and Whitley Pate are pacing the team with a 4-3 overall record.
- The Demon Deacons will host Marshall on Friday, Jan. 30 at 2:00 p.m. before welcoming in the Spartans on Friday night.
