CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team dropped a 5-0 contest with in-state foe North Carolina on Tuesday evening at the Chewning Tennis Center.
Chris Xu and Nick Mangiapane notched the first doubles game with a 6-1 win over
John Gabelic and
Devon Moskowitz on court one. Roan Jones and Anthony Wright went on to defeat freshman duo
Hector Nissen and
Sammy Presser, 6-1, securing the doubles point for the Tar Heels.
Andrew Black and
William Elmers were ahead of Ian Mayhew and Kase Schinnerer, 3-2, when the doubles point was secured, so the match ended with no decision.
UNC went on to claim all four singles matches to secure the 5-0 win. Wright bested Black,6-0, 6-1, on court five. Presser fell to Mangiapane, 3-6, 1-6, on court six. Jones earned the match-clinching point for North Carolina on court two against Moskowitz, 6-2, 6-2. The Tar Heels tacked on one more point before calling the match as Constantinos Djakouris defeated Elmers, 6-0,6-2.
