CHARLESTON, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team secured its first win of the season, 5-2, over The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe The Citadel on Saturday afternoon at the Earle Tennis Center. Devon Moskowitz, Tymofiy Khrystyuk, and Hector Nissen all went undefeated on the day.
John Gabelic and Moskowitz defeated Ted Bagwell and Brady Gober on court one, 6-2. Hector Nissen and Khrystyuk took care of business on court two, dispatching Noah Van Dyke and Tucker Hendrix,6-1, as the Spartans captured the doubles point. Court three saw the Bulldogs' Anthony Osipov and Reece Beckendorf defeat William Elmers and Andrew Black, 6-4.
Singles saw freshman Nissen continue his hot play, downing Beckendorf ,6-2, 6-3, on court five. The Citadel clawed back a point with Graham Harding defeating Black, 6-2, 6-2, on court six. However, the Spartans rattled off three straight points starting with Moskowitz defeating Michael Csipkay, 7-6, 6-3, on court three. Khrystyuk then beat Van Dyke, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1, on court one and Elmers defeated Bagwell, 7-5, 7-6, on court four to secure UNCG's victory. Gabelic fell to Gober, 6-2, 4-6, 5-7, to round out the final score of 5-2.
"We gutted out a victory in some tough conditions," said Head Coach Jeff Trivette. "It's great to get a road win in conference."

The Spartans will come back home this Tuesday as they take on Belmont Abbey at UNCG Tennis Courts at 2:00 p.m. Then UNCG will travel to Conway, South Carolina, on Friday, Feb. 20, to battle Coastal Carolina at Stevens Tennis Complex.
