Box Score CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell to No. 21 Clemson, 4-0, on Sunday at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.
The Tigers were able to gain the early lead by securing the doubles point. Talia Neilson-Gatenb and Artemis Aslanisvili defeated
Sara Kostic and
Ivet Sala-Sánchez, 6-0, on court three before Jade Goren and Rinon Okuwaki earned the doubles point in a 6-1 win over
Sophia Cedeno and
Lauren Thomson on court one. The matchup between doubles teams Gaia Parravicini & Romana Cisovska and
Sydney Bly &
Sofia Somoano remained unfinished at doubles No. 2 with the Tigers duo holding the 4-2 advantage.
Clemson continued its momentum into singles play by earning the first three matches for the 4-0 win. Aslanisvili defeated Somoano at singles No. 5, 6-1, 6-1, for a 2-0 advantage. Okuwaki then earned a 6-0, 7-5, win over Thomson at court three to put the Tigers up 3-0. Goren gave Clemson the match-clinching point after defeating Cedeno, 6-2, 6-2, at singles No. 1. The remaining three matchups remained unfinished with Cisovka holding a 6-4, 4-1, lead over Kostic on court two, Ria Bhakata leading Bly, 6-1, 5-2, on court four and Parravicini in control over
Kayley Bushnell on court six, 6-4, 4-2.
