GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will begin a three-match homestand from Thursday to Sunday this weekend at the UNCG Tennis Courts or the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center, depending on weather each day.
The Spartans will host UNC Asheville on Thursday at 1:00 p.m., begin The Southern Conference (SoCon) slate with ETSU on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and conclude the weekend with Converse on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- UNCG comes into the week 0-7 overall on the 2026 season.
- The Spartans last dropped a 4-0 contest at No. 21 Clemson on Sunday, Feb. 15.
- Prior to that, UNCG fell to the Richmond Spiders on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 6-1, in its 2026 home opener at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
- Sara Kostic picked up her first career win with a 0-6, 7-5, 10-6, win over Elizabeth Novak of Richmond on court two.
- Ivet Sala-Sánchez collected her first collegiate singles win and first singles victory for the Spartans on the 2026 season after defeating Olivia Hooper of Davidson, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7, at court six, on Sunday, Feb. 8.
- The Spartans took on three-straight ACC opponents to begin the 2026 season, falling in their spring opening doubleheader at No. 14 Virginia (7-0, 4-0) on Thursday, Jan. 15. UNCG dropped a match at No. 11 N.C. State on Sunday, Jan. 18, 7-0 and fell at Wake Forest, 7-0, on Friday, Jan. 30.
- UNCG competed in four tournaments in the 2025 fall slate.
- UNCG concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in the SoCon.
- Lauren Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign.
- Sydney Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
- Head Coach Mat Iandolo is in his second season at the helm of the UNCG women's tennis program.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- UNC Asheville heads to Greensboro 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the Big South.
- The Bulldogs most recently secured a 6-1 victory over UNC Wilmington on Sunday in Asheville, North Carolina.
- Sofia Segul is pacing the team with a 4-1 overall singles record.
- Valeria Centeno and Joy Angelina Hug are following closely behind with three singles wins apiece.
- All three doubles duos on the squad have earned two doubles wins each this season.
- The Bulldogs concluded the 2025 season 12-7 overall and 4-1 in the Big South.
- Head Coach Jeff Maren is in his first season at the helm of the UNC Asheville women's tennis program.
- The Bulldogs secured last season's meeting with the Spartans, 6-1, in Greensboro on Feb. 8, 2025.
SCOUTING THE BUCS
- ETSU comes into Saturday's contest 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the SoCon.
- The Bucs are currently on a five-match winning streak after most recently winning their SoCon opener against Western Carolina, 7-0, on Tuesday.
- Alessandra Caceres is pacing the Bucs with a 6-2 singles record this season.
- Cacasres and Estrella Mariangel are currently the best doubles team on the Bucs right now with a 4-3 record.
- The Bucs concluded the 2025 season 14-9 overall and 6-1 in the SoCon.
- ETSU fell to Furman, 4-3, in the SoCon Final last year.
- Director of Tennis Ricky Rojas is in his third season leading the ETSU men's and women's tennis programs.
- ETSU claimed last season's match with UNCG, 7-0, on April 3, 2025, in Johnson City.
SCOUTING THE VALKYRIES
- Converse currently stands 1-4 overall on the 2026 season.
- Sunday's contest against Converse will be considered and exhibition match for the Valkyries as they compete in the NCAA Division II.
- The Valkyries will take on Gardner-Webb in an exhibition match on Saturday before coming to Greensboro.
- Romy Rueff is pacing the team with a 4-4 singles record this season.
- Camille Lacombe & Khushi Kharb and Ellie Luppino & Tamanna Panwar are pacing doubles this season with two wins each.
- Converse concluded the 2025 season 10-10 overall and 4-5 in the Conference Carolinas.
- Head Coach James Smith is in his second season leading both the Converse men's and women's tennis teams.
