Women’s Tennis Set for SoCon Matchup with Chattanooga

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will begin a three-match homestand starting with The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Chattanooga on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
 
The Mocs took last season's meeting with UNCG on March 28, 2025, 4-3, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG comes into Sunday's contest 1-11 overall and 0-1 in SoCon action.
  • The Spartans most recently fell at Charleston Southern, 4-1, on Thursday.
  • Kayley Bushnell put the Spartans on the board first with a 6-1, 6-2, win over Camila Molina at singles No. 6. However, the Buccaneers notched the next four points for the win.
  • UNCG secured its first win of the season, shutting out Converse, 7-0, on March 1, at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
  • The team opened the SoCon slate on Feb. 28, falling to ETSU, 6-1, at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
  • Bushnell, Ivet Sala-Sánchez, Sophia Cedeno, Sara Kostic and Sofia Somoano have all picked up their first career wins this season.
  • Kostic, Bushnell and Sala-Sánchez are pacing the Spartans with three singles wins each this season.
  • Somoano is following closely behind with two wins.
  • Doubles teams Cedeno & Kostic and Sala-Sánchez & Bushnell are leading the Spartans with two doubles wins each.
  • UNCG competed in four tournaments in the 2025 fall slate.
  • The Spartans concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in the SoCon.
  • Lauren Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign. 
  • Sydney Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
  • Head Coach Mat Iandolo is in his second season at the helm of the UNCG women's tennis program.
SCOUTING THE MOCS
  • Chattanooga comes to Greensboro 10-1 overall on the 2026 season.
  • Sunday's matchup will be Chattanooga's first SoCon contest this season.
  • The Mocs are currently on an eight-match win streak after most recently defeating Tennessee Wesleyan, 5-2, on Friday in Chattanooga.
  • Chattanooga's lone loss this season came at Georgia Tech, 6-1, on Feb. 1.
  • Rufaro Magarira is pacing the Mocs this season with a 21-5 record.
  • Addison Iacono is following closely behind at 19-4 this year.
  • Doubles duos Emma Pedretti & Savannah Presson and Jordan Fenton & Joelle Krikorian are leading the Mocs with 12 wins apiece.
  • Chattanooga concluded the 2025 slate 11-11 overall and 2-5 in the SoCon.
  • Head Coach Chad Camper is in his 10th season at the helm of the Chattanooga women's tennis program.

The Spartans continue at home next weekend, hosting SoCon opponent Furman on Saturday, March 21 and Big South foe Presbyterian on Sunday, March 22, at the UNCG Tennis Courts. Both matches are scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
