Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team was defeated by The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Mercer, 5-2, at UNCG Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.
The Spartans secured the first point of the day after collecting two-of-three doubles matches. Eric Lindemann and Tymofiy Khrystyuk started the day off with a 6-2 win over Howell Burns and Esteban Davila Gasser on court one. Hector Nissen and William Elmers secured the doubles point for the Spartans, defeating Shingo Masuda and AmenPrince Gandonou, 6-4, on court two. Devon Moskowitz and John Gabelic dropped the final doubles match to Isak Padio and Nemanja Stefanovic, 7-6, on court three.
Singles saw the Bears take the lead with Burns besting Andrew Black, 6-3, 6-1, on court six and Masuda downing Moskowitz, 6-4, 6-4, on court three for the 2-1 lead. Nissen tied the match at two apiece with his victory over Prince Gandonou, 6-4, 7-6, on court four. However, UNCG fell in the next three matches as Elmers lost to Alex Aldaz, 6-7, 1-6, on court five. Gaeblic was defeated by Stefanovic, 6-4, 6-4, on court two. Finally, Khrystyuk was beaten by Isak Padio, 6-4, 5-7, 0-1 (8-10), on court one for the 5-2 loss.
