Women’s Tennis Travels to Buies Creek

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will travel to Buies Creek, North Carolina, to face the Fighting Camels of Campbell on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at James Nisbet Tennis Center.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG comes into the week 2-14 overall and 0-4 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
  • The Spartans most recently fell in a close battle with Wofford, 5-2, on Thursday, March 26, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
  • Kayley Bushnell and Sydney Bly picked up the two points for the Spartans during singles play against the Terriers.
  • Bushnell is pacing the Spartans with a 6-7 overall record in singles play.
  • Ivet Sala-Sánchez is following closely behind with four singles wins this season.
  • Bushnell & Sala-Sánchez are the leading doubles team with three wins this season.
  • Sophia Cedeno leads the team overall in doubles with three wins.
  • UNCG secured its first win of the season, shutting out Converse, 7-0, on March 1, at UNCG Tennis Courts.
  • The Spartans secured their second victory this year, defeating Presbyterian, 4-3, at UNCG Tennis Courts on March 22.
  • The team opened the SoCon slate on Feb. 28, falling to ETSU, 6-1, at UNCG Tennis Courts.
  • UNCG competed in four tournaments in the 2025 fall slate.
  • The Spartans concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in the SoCon.
  • Lauren Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign. 
  • Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
  • Head Coach Mat Iandolo is in his second season at the helm of the UNCG women's tennis program.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING CAMELS
  • Campbell comes into Thursday's matchup with a 4-11 overall record and 2-1 mark in the CAA.
  • The Camels most recently fell to Charleston, 5-2, in CAA action on Monday in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
  • Ilouna Aneca, Sonia Pieczynska and Mollie Garcia are pacing the team with six singles wins each this season.
  • Aneca & Pieczynska and Garcia & Sandra Mari Marti are leading the squad in doubles play with three wins apiece.
  • Garcia is the best overall doubles player on the team with six wins this season.
  • Garcia was named CAA Singles Player of the Week on March 24 after going 3-0 that week.
  • Campbell concluded the 2025 season 8-9 overall and 3-2 in the CAA.
  • Head Coach Mike Stevens is in his seventh season at the helm of the Campbell women's tennis program.
