SoCon Announces Women's Tennis Postseason Awards

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophia Cedeno from the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team has been named to the All-Southern Conference (SoCon) Singles Second Team and All-Freshman Team, the league office announced on Wednesday.

At singles No. 1, Cedeno notched three overall wins and secured one win in the SoCon slate. In her freshman campaign, she posted four overall doubles wins for the Spartans. Two of her doubles victories came with teammate Sara Kostic, while the other two were with Lauren Thomson and Ivet Sala-Sánchez.

This is the second consecutive year UNCG has collected a SoCon All-Freshman Team honor as former Spartan Elisabeth Birkevold earned the feat last year. The last time a Spartan was named to a All-SoCon Singles Team was in 2019 when Nancy Bridges was tabbed to the All-SoCon Singles First Team.

UNCG concluded the 2026 season 4-17 overall and 2-5 in conference. The last time UNCG collected two SoCon wins in a season was in the 2021 campaign.
