Women’s Tennis to Conclude Home Slate with Western Carolina & Elon

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will conclude its 2026 home slate by welcoming in The Southern Conference (SoCon) opponent Western Carolina on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. and Triad foe Elon on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at UNCG Tennis Courts.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG comes into the week 2-15 overall and 0-4 in the SoCon.
  • The Spartans most recently fell to in-state foe Campbell, 4-1, on Thursday, April 2 in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
  • Kayley Bushnell snagged the lone point for the Spartans at singles No. 6 over Brooke Murphy, 6-2, 6-2.
  • She is pacing the Spartans with seven singles wins this season.
  • Ivet Sala-Sánchez is following closely behind with four singles wins this season.
  • Bushnell & Sala-Sánchez are the leading doubles team with three wins this season.
  • UNCG secured its first win of the season, shutting out Converse, 7-0, on March 1, at UNCG Tennis Courts.
  • The Spartans secured their second victory this year, defeating Presbyterian, 4-3, at UNCG Tennis Courts on March 22.
  • The team opened the SoCon slate on Feb. 28, falling to ETSU, 6-1, at UNCG Tennis Courts.
  • UNCG competed in four tournaments in the 2025 fall slate.
  • The Spartans concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in the SoCon.
  • Lauren Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign. 
  • Sydney Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
  • Head Coach Mat Iandolo is in his second season at the helm of the UNCG women's tennis program.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
  • Western Carolina comes to Greensboro 2-16 overall and 0-6 in SoCon play.
  • The matchup against the Spartans will be Western Carolina's final match of the regular season.
  • The Catamounts most recently fell to Wofford on Friday, 6-1, in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
  • Mariya Dobreva secured the only point for Western Carolina in a 6-3, 6-2, win over Grace Agster at singles No. 1.
  • Dobreva is pacing the Catamounts with nine singles wins this season.
  • Mia Miranda is following closely behind with five wins on the season.
  • Miranda & Dobreva are the leading doubles team with a 5-10 record.
  • Western Carolina concluded the 2025 season 15-10 overall and 4-3 in conference.

  • Mariana Reding is pacing the squad with 20 singles wins this season.
  • Cornelia Kack is following closely behind with 19 victories this year.
  • Kack & Lisa Kranec are the best doubles team on the squad with an 18-4 record.
  • Kack is the best overall doubles player with a 21-4 mark in doubles action.
  • Elon concluded the 2025 season 19-6 overall.
  • The Phoenix will wrap up the regular season by hosting Coastal Carolina on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.  
  • Head Coach Elizabeth Anderson is in her 22nd season guiding the Elon women's tennis program.

The Spartans will wrap up the 2026 regular season with back-to-back SoCon matches. UNCG will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to face Samford on Friday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. EST/1:00 p.m. CST before taking on Mercer on Sunday, April 12 in Macon, Georgia, at 11:00 a.m.
