GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNCG athletics department celebrated a memorable 2025-26 season (with some more on the horizon) by recognizing several outstanding teams and standout individuals during the festive evening inside of Piedmont Hall on the Greensboro Complex on Wednesday, April 29.
In addition to the individual accolades that were presented, each of UNCG's athletic teams honored their senior student-athletes.
A couple of additional highlights of the event included Assistant Athletic Trainer Stephen Borchik being presented with the Cathy Roberts' Legacy Award by Cathy Roberts and senior Salem Ward of the softball team. Ward received the Minerva Wisdom Appreciation Award.
The following teams won awards: women's tennis (Highest Team GPA), baseball (Community Engagement Award) and men's soccer (Team of the Year).

Male Rookie of the Year
Tanner Berry, baseball
- Leads the team in batting average (.370) and on-base percentage (.473)
- 15 multi-hit games
- Seven multi-RBI games
- Recorded a game high five RBI against Northern Kentucky on April 11
Female Rookie of the Year
Connore' Siler-Nixon, volleyball
- SoCon All-Freshman Team
- SoCon Offensive Player of the Week
- Finished first on the team with 99.0 total blocks
Male Newcomer of the Year
Justin Neely, men's basketball
- All-SoCon First Team
- National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) South Atlantic District Second Team
- 2x SoCon Player of the Week
- Naismith National Player of the Week
- Career-Best 24 rebounds (UNCG Division I record)
- Led the team with 17.9 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game, 82 assists and 31 steals
Female Newcomer of the Year
Brooklyn Shroyer, softball
- 2026 SoCon Pitcher of the Year & All-SoCon First Team
- 3x SoCon Pitcher of the Week
- Leads the SoCon in ERA (1.58), hits allowed per seven innings (4.01), shutouts (9), strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.40), strikeouts (163), strikeouts per seven innings (8.1), victories (18) and WHIP (0.91)
- Top-30 nationally in six categories: shutouts (3rd), hits allowed per seven innings (8th), WHIP (11th), ERA (12th), strikeouts (24th) and victories (27th)
- Has recorded a season-best 10 strikeouts on four occasions
- Recorded a no-hitter in a 9-0 five-inning victory over Canisius on Feb. 20
- Has career-best numbers in ERA, hits allowed, runs allowed, earned runs, strikeouts, shutouts and wins
Comeback Player of the Year
Rhyann Jones, softball
- SoCon All-Conference Second Team
- Leads the league in walks allowed per seven innings (1.56)
- Second in the SoCon with a 2.34 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP
- Second on the team with 46 total strikeouts this season
- Recorded a season-best five strikeouts against Western Kentucky on Feb. 7
Male Player of the Year
Enzo Dovlo, men's soccer
- All-SoCon First Team
- SoCon Offensive Player of the Week
- SoCon All-Tournament First Team
- Scored 10 goals and eight assists for second in the SoCon with 28 total points
- Drafted 12th overall in the MLS Draft
Female Player of the Year
Allie Sweet, volleyball
- All-SoCon First Team
- 2x SoCon Offensive Player of the Week
- Recorded match-bests of 32 kills, 26 digs and six service aces
- Finished first on the team in kills and service aces
Male Spartan of the Year
Luke Jenkins, baseball
- Has recorded 37 hits, five doubles, one triple, four homers, 26 RBI and 56 total bases this year
- Has went 5-for-7 on stolen bases attempted
- In the field, has notched 83 catches and 81 putouts
- Notched a season-best three RBI on two occasions
Female Spartan of the Year
Salem Ward, softball
- Third in the SoCon with a 2.45 ERA
- Second on the team with 47 total strikeouts this season
- Recorded two saves this season
- At the plate this season, has notched 21 hits, four doubles and 14 RBI
