GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team is set to open its fall schedule by hosting the Spartan Fall Invitational from Friday to Sunday at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
 
Tournament Information:
Friday will be a 1:00 p.m. start, while Saturday and Sunday will be 9:00 a.m. starts at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

UNCG, Coastal Carolina, Southern Mississippi, Queens, North Carolina Central, UNC Asheville, Emory

About the Spartans:

• The Spartans finished the 2026 season 7-15 overall and 2-5 in The Southern Conference (SoCon). 
• Last season concluded with a 4-3 battle against No. 3 Chattanooga in the SoCon Quarterfinals.
• Among the Spartan returners is All-SoCon selection Hector Nissen.
• The 2026-27 roster features five returners and three newcomers.

Scouting the Opponents:

• Coastal Carolina – The Chanticleers concluded the 2026 season 12-11 overall and 1-2 in the Sun Belt. The team defeated Georgia State, 4-0, in the Sun Belt Tournament, but lost to Old Dominion, 4-1, to finish the season. The Spartans and Chants last met on Feb. 20, 2025, with Coastal Carolina claiming a 7-0 win.
• Southern Mississippi – Southern Mississippi concluded the 2026 campaign 8-12 overall. The Golden Eagles and Spartans have met once during dual competition, with Southern Mississippi claiming a 4-0 win on March 14, 2019.
• Queens – The Royals wrapped up the 2026 slate 1-13 overall. UNCG and Queens last met on Feb. 9, 2025, with the Royals claiming a 5-2 win over the Spartans.
• North Carolina Central – The Eagles posted a 13-9 overall record and 4-1 mark in the MEAC last season. North Carolina Central's season was concluded with a 4-1 loss to SoCon foe Chattanooga in the UTR NIT Championship. The Eagles and Spartans met this past season in a 4-3 battle going the way for North Carolina Central on Feb. 7, 2026, at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
• UNC Asheville – The Bulldogs concluded the 2026 season 11-10 overall and 0-3 in the Big South. The team fell to Presbyterian, 4-0, in the Big South Championship to finish the season. UNC Asheville and UNCG last met on April 7, 2026, with the Spartans claiming a 4-3 battle over the Bulldogs in Asheville, North Carolina.
• Emory – The Eagles finished the 2026 slate 14-11 overall. Emory and UNCG also faced off at last season's Spartan Fall Invitational.  The Eagles competed in last season's NCAA Division III Championships with Ruilin Feng and Ajay Kartik appearing in the semifinals as individuals.
