Women’s Tennis to Begin Fall Slate at College of Charleston Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team is set to open its fall schedule by traveling to Charleston, South Carolina, to compete in the College of Charleston Invitational at Turner Tennis Center at Patriots Point on Friday and Saturday.
 
Tournament Information:
Both days will feature a 9:00 a.m. start, seeing both doubles and singles matches across the two-day event.

Teams Competing:
UNCG, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina and North Florida

About the Spartans:
  • UNCG concluded the 2026 season 4-18 overall and 2-5 in The Southern Conference (SoCon). 
  • The last time UNCG collected two SoCon wins in a season was in the 2021 campaign.
  • The 2026-27 roster features seven returners and one newcomer.
  • Among the returners for the Spartans includes, sophomore Sophia Cedeno, who was tabbed to All-SoCon Singles Second Team and All-Freshman Team after her performance last season.
Scouting the Opponents:
  • College of Charleston – The Cougars concluded the 2026 season 17-9 overall and 6-2 in the CAA. The team made the NIT Championships for the first time in program history and defeated North Texas in the quarterfinals to secure the program's first postseason victory in Division I history. The College of Charleston return seven athletes from last season, including Oziera Ahmad and Riley Trinkle who earned 2026 CAA postseason honors.
  • Coastal Carolina – The Chanticleers concluded the 2026 campaign with a 13-6 overall record and 2-2 mark in the Sun Belt. The season was concluded with a 4-0 loss to James Madison in the Sun Belt Championships. Diana Zuba and Aida Mitrache are the leading returners after both collected 13 singles wins apiece last year.  
  • North Florida – North Florida enters the 2026-27 season as the defending Atlantic Sun Conference Champions. The Ospreys finished the 2026 regular season as the only undefeated Division I team in the nation at 22-0. North Florida then defeated FGCU, 4-2, in the ASUN Championship final to improve to 25-0. Gabby Gayins returns as the leader in singles from last year, going 21-1.
Up Next 
The Spartans will travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee, for the SoCon Masters Qualifier at the UTC Tennis Center from Oct. 2-4.
