Biography
Kevin Easley enters his third season on the UNC Greensboro men’s basketball coaching staff.
Prior to his arrivial in Greensboro, Easley served two seasons on the staff at Tennessee-Martin, serving on Bret Campbell’s staff. Easley played for Campbell when Campbell was an assistant at Austin Peay.
Easley, 29, was a four-year member of the Austin Peay squad from 1997-2001. He was voted the team’s most improved player after the 1998-99 season. He appeared in 21 games in 2000-01 when the Governors went 22-10. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Austin Peay, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
While serving on the staff at Tennessee-Martin, Easley completed his master’s degree work, obtaining a degree in education at UTM. During his tenure with the Skyhawks, the program showed dramatic improvement during Easley’s tenure, going from just six wins in 2004-05 to a 13-15 mark the following year. While at UTM, Easley coached two student-athletes who participated in NBA summer leagues during the summer of 2006, including Jared Nelson, who signed with the Dallas Mavericks last September. He also helped to recruit the 2007-08 OVC Freshman of the Year Marquis Weddle.
Prior to joining the college ranks, Easley broke into coaching with the Mid State Ballerz AAU organization.
Easley played his high school basketball at Trenton Peabody School in Trenton, TN. He led his team to a 26-1 mark his senior season (1996-97). That year, he was named a finalist for Tennessee’s Mr. Basketball in Class A.
Easley and his wife, the former Erin Wren, reside in Greensboro with their son, Sebastian.
