Biography

2006: Earned Preseason All-Southern Conference first team honors...was named to the All-Southern Conference Second Team...started in 59 games at first base...hit a team leading .332 (56-of-174) with 17 runs and 22 RBI...had a team-leading 12 doubles...also had one triple and two homers... had two multiple run games (South Carolina State, North Carolina A&T)...gave UNCG a 2-0 win over Chattanooga (4/8/06) with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning...earned All-Tournament honors at the CSU Fastpitch Invitational after hitting .474 (9-of-19) for the weekend...led the team in total bases (76), walks (17) and stolen base percentage (1.00)...recorded a .437 slugging percentage and a .982 fielding percentage.

 

2005: Named first team All-Southern Conference at first base during sophomore season...finalist for Player of the Year honors...was named to the 2005 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State softball team...hit a team-leading .350 (62-for-177) with 15 doubles, seven home runs and 30 runs batted in...she ranked third in the league in batting, fourth in both slugging percentage (.554) and doubles and fifth in on-base percentage (.407)...started all 60 games at first base for the Spartans...named SoCon Player of the Month in April after hitting at a .444 (32-for-72) clip with five home runs and five doubles...had a UNCG-leading 17 multi-hit games...eight multiple RBI games and a season-best eight game hitting streak...enjoyed a stretch of getting a hit in 32 of 39 games during the season...went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two homers and four RBI in a 16-1 win at North Carolina A&T (4/22/05)...went 3-for-3 with a double and a RBI in a 9-7 win over Fairfield (2/27/05)...was 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBI in a 7-3 win at Elon (4/3/05)...went 1-for-4 with two runs scored, a homer and three RBI in a 12-5 win over Appalachian State (4/23/05)...her 428 putouts were fourth most in the conference.

 

2004: Named second team All-Southern Conference during freshman season...finished third on the team in batting with a .297 (54-for-182) average...started 57 games...scored 21 runs...showed good extra base power as a freshman by posting a .495 slugging percentage...was second on the team with 15 doubles and third in home runs with seven...led the team with 39 runs batted in...walked 11 times and was successful in all three stolen base attempts...hit .296 with runners in scoring position...had 11 multiple hit games and four 3-hit games.

 

High School: Standout for Coach Eddie Dees at South View...was the Two Rivers Conference Player of the Year as a senior ...also earned all-state and all-region accolades during senior campaign...named second team all-conference as a freshman, sophomore and junior.

 

Summer Ball: Competed for four seasons with the Carolina Wildcats...played first and third base.

 

Personal: Jennifer Rae Bonilla...daughter of Edwin and Karen Bonilla...born July 16, 1985 in Fay, NC...human development and family studies major...chose UNCG over UNC Wilmington and UNC Pembroke.
