LePino joined the Spartans as a cross country and track & field assistant coach in January 2022 after spending the last four and a half years as a student-athlete at Wake Forest University competing in cross country and track & field.
“I am excited to announce John LePino as the newest member of our Spartan Family,” stated head coach Kaleigh Roach. “Coach LePino brings a high level of enthusiasm and excitement in sharing his knowledge of the sport to help our student-athletes succeed both off and on the course. In his previous role as a student-athlete at Wake Forest University and his roles in serving alongside local and international organizations, Coach LePino exemplifies the values of commitment, integrity, and humility. I believe these values distinguish Coach LePino as a natural leader and a coach who will successfully help carry out the vision for this program."
As a Deacon, LePino concluded his career as a five-time ACC qualifier between the three seasons. He wrapped up his career as part of the 2021 Southeast Regional Cross Country Championship team and assisted Wake Forest to a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championship. Outside of being a student-athlete, LePino facilitated team training accommodations in Flagstaff, Arizona during the summers of 2019-21.
LePino was a volunteer with Project HOPE and STRIVE service trips during his time at Wake Forest. With STRIVE, he traveled to Iten, Kenya during the summer of 2016 and 2017 organizing lesson plans, aiding in the construction of school necessities, and assisting in guiding students through the common application process.
LePino earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Wake Forest University in December 2021.
