Carol Peschel enters her 13th season as the associate head coach and 26th year overall on the UNCG women's basketball coaching staff.
Peschel is the recruiting coordinator and organizes the UNCG summer camp program. On the court, Peschel works predominantly with the Spartan perimeter players. Under her tutelage, players like Samika Foster, ChoRhonda Gwaltney and Rebecca Viverette have all registered 1,000-point careers.
Off the court, Peschel is primarily responsible for monitoring academic progress of the student-athletes, arranging team travel and scouting.

Peschel transferred to UNCG for her senior season after Agee became the head coach in 1981. She led the 1981-82 Spartans to a 25-3 record and a berth in the NCAA Division III Final Four. UNCG came up just one win shy of the national championship when the Spartans dropped the title game to Elizabethtown (Pa.), 67-66, in overtime.
Peschel was the first female All-American in any sport at UNCG and was named to the 1982 NCAA Division III All-Tournament team. Recently, Peschel and the 1981-82 team were inducted into the UNCG Hall of Fame for their special season.
The 1981-82 season triggered a run of seven consecutive 20-win seasons, during which the Spartans captured five Dixie Conference Championships. In fact, UNCG has made seven NCAA tournament appearances since Peschel's arrival to the UNCG campus. The Spartans made another run at a Division III crown in 1987-88, before finishing in third place at the national tournament.
The 1997-98 UNCG squad captured the Southern Conference tournament championship in its first season in the conference and earned its first ever berth into the NCAA Division I tournament.
Since her arrival on the UNCG bench, the Spartans have captured 11 regular-season championships and four conference tournament titles.
