2008-09: Redshirted the season ... competed unattached at the UNC Pembroke Open, his only tournament of the year ... defeated Cumberland's Ricky Starr, 11-7, in the first round before getting injured in his second match and injury defaulting in his final match.

Prior to UNCG: (at UNC Pembroke): Attended UNC Pembroke during the Spring 2008 semester... practiced with the team, but did not compete in any matches... (at St. Andrews Presbyterian College): Attended St. Andrews Presbyterian College during the Fall 2007 semester... Was 2-4 at 141 lbs., registering one fall and one major decision... quickest fall took 1:57 and was against Longwood's Shawn Nelson at the UNC Pembroke Classic... only major decision of the season also came at the UNC Pembroke Classic, defeating Spartanburg Methodist's Fred Tucker 11-2.

High School: Two-time letterwinner at  130 lbs. for Scotland High School, wrestling under coach Joel McCanna... was a Southeast Conference champion... state qualifier... garnered all-conference and all-region honors.
