UNC Greensboro

Dr. Alan Zhou (pronounced like "Joe") came to UNCG in Spring 2023 to begin his position as the staff physical therapist and rehabilitation coordinator.
 

A Richmond, Virginia, native, Zhou earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Virginia and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina. His professional interests include sports physical therapy with a focus on return to performance and return to duty. He has experience with athletics and rehabilitation across the lifespan, focusing on elite level high school, collegiate and LEO/military populations. 
 

Zhou started his career at a sports therapy clinic in Cary, North Carolina, and transitioned to a staff physical therapist with Cone Health. Through his dedication and passion for evidence-based and efficacious sports specific rehabilitation, he and his Cone Health team advocated for partnership with UNCG.
 

"All too often physical therapy in the sports/performance setting is not evidence-based and not in line with the physical demands of return to play or duty. I hope to make that change within my UNCG athletics community and the Greensboro community at large."
