UNCG softball head coach Janelle Breneman has named former Florida baseball player Clint Franklin Volunteer assistant coach Friday.
“Clint brings a competitive, enthusiastic personality to our coaching staff,” said Breneman. “Although maintaining a busy work schedule he is determined to delve into coaching and the exciting sport of Softball. Clint has competed at a high level in college and knows the focus that it takes to be successful. With our talented roster, I foresee Clint being able to help our program in many ways.”
Recently Franklin worked at the Sheriff’s department for two-years in Winston-Salem, N.C. and now works full-time at the police department in Greensboro.
Franklin was a four-year letterwinner as a right-handed pitcher at the University of Florida from 2007-2010. A native of Orlando, Fla., worked as a coach at the Florida baseball camps from June 2007 through July 2010. Franklin also has been umpiring baseball games for kids’ ages 8-18 in the Orlando area since 2004.
At the University of Florida, Franlkin compiled a 6-5 record in 47 appearances with two saves in 71.2 innings of work in four seasons. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Event Management at the College of Health and Human Performance.
