Kelly Tilley joined the Spartans as athletics mental health counselor in October 2025.
Tilley is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) with over 20 years of experience in mental health care. At UNCG, she serves as the mental health provider for Athletics, offering individual counseling, crisis support and preventative mental health services to student-athletes.
Her clinical focus includes anxiety and mood concerns, injury-related distress, identity and life-transition challenges and the cumulative stressors associated with collegiate athletics. Tilley works collaboratively with coaches, athletic trainers and campus partners to support student-athlete well-being while maintaining ethical standards of confidentiality and care.
With a professional background spanning college counseling, private practice, crisis response and leadership roles in community mental health, Tilley brings a holistic, athlete-centered approach to care. Her work emphasizes early intervention, resilience and helping student-athletes thrive both on and off the field.
