Luke Thomson was named assistant coach of the men’s tennis program in August 2025. Before being hired at UNCG, Thomson was a part of the UNCG men’s tennis program for two years after transferring from UNC Charlotte in 2023. During his career at UNCG, he played 76 matches for the Spartans, including 40 singles matches and 36 doubles matches. Off the court, Thomson earned two ITA Scholar Athlete awards (2021 and 2023), was named to the Academic Honor Roll (2023-24) and was named to the College Sports Communications (CSC) All-District team (2024-25). He graduated from UNCG with a degree in kinesiology.
Prior to his career at UNCG, he was a 4-star recruit ranked 5th best in North Carolina coming out of high school. Thomson joined UNC Charlotte in the spring of 2021, where he helped the Niners reach an ITA ranking of No. 43.
