Matt Thrall is a Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer with more than ten years of experience providing sports medicine care across NCAA Division I, Division II, NAIA and junior college athletics. He currently serves as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at UNC Greensboro (UNCG) , where he is the primary healthcare provider for the baseball program while also overseeing the men's and women's golf teams.

Throughout his career, Thrall has built a reputation for combining evidence-based rehabilitation with individualized athlete care. His expertise includes injury evaluation, rehabilitation program design, return-to-play decision making, manual therapy, movement assessment, emergency care and performance optimization. He works closely with physicians, strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionists and sport coaches to develop comprehensive care plans that maximize both athlete health and performance.

Thrall has extensive experience treating baseball athletes, with a particular interest in shoulder and elbow injuries, throwing mechanics, workload management and return-to-throw progressions. His clinical approach emphasizes restoring movement quality, improving functional performance and helping athletes safely return to competition at the highest level.

Prior to joining UNCG, Thrall held athletic training positions at Florida Southern College and Warner University, where he provided medical coverage for multiple NCAA and NAIA athletic programs, while mentoring student athletic trainers and assisting with sports medicine operations.

Thrall earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Athletic Training and continues to pursue advanced education in manual therapy techniques, movement assessment and evidence-based sports medicine. He holds certifications in instument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), dry needling, Mulligan Concept mobilization and Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) methodologies. His professional philosophy centers on building trust with athletes, delivering individualized care, and creating an environment where athletes can perform with confidence.

Whether working with collegiate athletes, collaborating with healthcare professionals, or educating future clinicians, Thrall is committed to advancing the profession of athletic training through clinical excellence, continuous learning, and compassionate patient care. In his free time he can be found on a golf course or doing something active. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Adrienne and his son, Lucas.
