Mike Roach was promoted to Executive Associate Athletic Director for External Operations in March 2022. Prior to being promoted, Roach served two years as the Director of Development for Athletics and 13 years as the Director of the Spartan Club.
In March of 2022 Roach secured a $250,000 gift that will support athletics with two athletic endowments, the Spartan Athletic Scholarship Fund, the Library, and the School of Education. In August 2020, during the athletic department’s 5 for 5 Campaign in which he helped to raise $3 million, Roach helped secure a $600,000 gift from the Bodford family for the Speed, Strength, & Conditioning Center. This campaign helped provide much-needed renovations to spaces that benefit all student-athletes. Roach also worked with the coaches to created sports-based enrichments funds that alumni and friends give to directly benefit the sport of their choice.
Roach came to UNCG in February 2007 from Charlotte, where he worked with the Athletic Foundation as the Director of the Athletics Annual Fund. Before his work at Charlotte, he worked at Wake Forest University as the Assistant Director of Law School Development.
Roach graduated from Guilford College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1994. He was a three-year letter winner on the basketball team from 1991-94.
Roach is an active member of NACDA, the Greensboro Sports Council, and Kiwanis. He is married to the former Susan Raney and they have two children, Lily and Jack.
