The UNC Greensboro men's soccer team defeated in-state rival N.C. State, 2-1, in the Big Four Classic in Charlotte, NC. The Spartans have now defeated the Wolfpack in six straight matches. With the win, UNCG improves to 9-7-0 on the season, while NC State falls to 4-11

UNCG scored the game's first goal when James Carlson (So./East Lansing) scored on Doug Prewett's (Jr./Austin, TX) corner kick with one minute left in the first half.

The Spartans increased their lead to 2-0 when Jeff Lochrie (Jr.Austin, TX) scored on a Kenny Bundy (Sr./Bixby, OK) assist at the 50:12 mark.

NC State picked up its goal at the 75:11 mark on an own goal

In the four year history of the Big Four Classic, the Spartans are 5-3 with four wins over NC State and one against Duke. All three losses have come from Duke

The Spartans outshot the Wolfpack 19-8 in the match. Jay Benfield (Fr./Lewisville, NC) got the start in goal for the Spartans and recorded three saves in 57:14 minutes of play. Charlie DeMello (Sr./Shreveport, LA) came in and played the remaining 32:46 of the match.

The Spartans return to action again on Tuesday as they host conference rival Wofford at 7 pm
