Women's Soccer Drops First Ever Meeting With Colorado College, 2-1

Box Score

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado College senior forward Rebecca Carroll struck for a pair of unassisted goals in the second half Sunday, leading the Tigers past UNCG, 2-1, in NCAA Division I women's soccer action at CC's Stewart Field.

Carroll snapped a scoreless deadlock at the 52:41 mark, rocketing a direct free kick from the left side over a wall of defenders and the Spartans freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Stillman. Carroll increased the lead to 2-0 at 81:56, picking up a loose ball after Stillman had made a save and lofting a 40-footer into the vacated net.

That proved to be the game-winner as UNCG got a late tally from freshman midfielder Dacia Beachum on a deflection with 1:42 left to play. Sophomore goalkeeper Meghann Loseke finished with 12 saves for the Tigers, who improved to 4-6-1 for the season despite being outshot by a 28-18 margin overall. Stillman had seven stops in net for the Spartans, which dropped to 4-8.

UNCG, which has now lost six straight matches for the first time in school history, will get back to Southern Conference action next weekend with matches at Georgia Southern and College of Charleston.

The Spartans face the Eagles this Friday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m., then return Sunday afternoon with for a 1 p.m. kickoff at CofC.
