Volleyball Swept By Georgia Southern, 3-0

Statesboro, GA - The UNC Greensboro volleyball team was swept, 3-0, by Georgia Southern Saturday afternoon in Hanner Fieldhouse. The Spartans move to 6-24 on the year and 4-14 in the Southern Conference, while Georgia Southern ups it's record to 22-7, 16-1 in the SoCon.

The Eagles took game one by a score of 30-22 as they outhit the Spartans .275 to .000. Greensboro tied GSU 10-10 in game two as the Spartans began to come back. However, the Eagles posted a 23-14 lead by a kill from Christina Lentz. UNCG's Dawn Bright (Sr./Aberdeen, NC) pulled the Spartans to within eight (26-18), but the comeback was stopped short as the Eagles took the opening game.

UNCG stayed close behind GSU in game three as they took advantage of the Eagles' 12 hitting errors. Georgia Southern did not lose the lead in game three and finally won 30-24.


The Spartans were led by senior Dawn Bright with nine kills while sophomore Rebekah Faulise (Mooresville, NC) led the team defensively with nine digs. Freshman setter for the Spartans, Adrian Hicks (Morganton, NC) tallied 28 assists.

Martina Veiglova led the Eagles in kills with 15 and Erin Martin added eight. Kim Foytich dished out 30 assists and Susan Winkelman handled 24.

UNCG will close out the regular season this week as the team travels to East Tennesse State on November 15 and Appalachian State on November 16. Both games are scheduled for 7 pm.
