Spartans Edge Elon, 1-0

Box Score

GREENSBORO, NC – The UNC Greensboro women's soccer team picked up its third consecutive win, as the Spartans blanked Elon, 1-0, in women's college soccer action, Monday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium. UNCG improves to 6-5-2 overall, 4-1 in the SoCon, while Elon falls to 3-10 overall and 2-4 in the SoCon.

"I'm disappointed in our team's performance tonight", said UNCG head coach Eddie Radwanski." Our effort tonight wasn't good enough, not to take anything away from Elon, they came out, ready to play. But, we've got to come out and be ready to play, especially since we go on the road for three consecutive conference games."

The lone goal of the match came at the 64:11 mark when sophomore Cara Hammond (Howell, NJ) knocked in a pass from Cheryl Stewart from eight yards out.

The tough Spartan defense held the Phoenix to only three shots on the contest. Sophomore Jennifer Stillman (Randolph, NJ) saved one shot, in recording her third shutout of the season. Elon goalkeeper Kara Zagol stopped eight Spartan shots.

UNCG will next take on Wofford on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, SC. Elon will travel to College of Charleston to take on the Cougars on Friday at 7 p.m.
