Boone, NC - Appalachian State scored a goal right before the half and held on to knock off the UNC Greensboro men's soccer team, 1-0, Tuesday night at a blustery Kidd Brewer Stadium.

The loss is UNCG's first Southern Conference setback of the season and drops the Spartans to 6-4-2 on the season and 3-1-2 in league play.

The Spartans dominated the stats in the first half, taking 10 shots and eight corner kicks to Appalachian State's three shots. The Spartans, however, could not get on the scoreboard and it looked as if the half would end in a 0-0 tie. At the 42:13 mark, Frederick Henriksen took a cross from teammate Carter Parrish and knocked it past UNCG's Joe Crump for what would end up being the game-winning goal.

In the second half, the Spartans outshot the Mountaineers 13-2, but were unable to score.

UNCG's Crump made two saves for the evening. ASU's Philip Cavicchia stayed busy in goal, recording six saves.

UNCG returns to the pitch again Saturday night at Winthrop in a nonconference match.
