Withrow's goal proves enough as Spartans down Western Carolina, 1-0

CULLOWHEE, NC - A goal by Tracey Withrow early in the second half proved to be the game-winner as UNC Greensboro handed Western Carolina a 1-0 setback Sunday afternoon at Schrader Field.

The goal, which was second on the year by Withrow, came at 48:26 off a rebound five yards in front of the Catamount net. The shot was one of 18 by the Spartans, who improve to 8-5-2 overall and 6-1-0 in the Southern Conference. Rakel Logadottir had a game-high seven shot attempts. UNCG keeper Jennifer Stilman recorded her fifth shutout of the season, tallying four saves. WCU's Tina Weaver, who leads the SoCon in saves, added to her league-leading total with six stops on the day.

UNCG has now shutout its fourth straight opponent.

The Spartans will return to the pitch again Thursday evening at Chattanooga. Kickoff is slated for 6 pm.
