CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Chattanooga's Tirza Ridgely scored the game's only goal at the 20:05 mark, to help the Lady Mocs defeat UNCG, 1-0, in Southern Conference action, Thursday night at Finley Stadium. Chattanooga improves to 8-5-2 overall and 5-2-2 in the SoCon, while UNCG drops to 8-6-2, 6-2 in the SoCon.

With less than two minutes to play in the game, UNC Greensboro, was awarded a free kick just outside the box in front of the net, but a strong Chattanooga defensive line kept the ball out of the net and the Lady Mocs cleared it away to come away with its fifth SoCon win. Cara Hammond led the Spartans with six shots, four on goal.

Freshman keeper Stacey Matthiessen had five saves and notched a league-leading seventh shutout of the year tying a UTC single-season record set by Rawlslyn Ray in 2002. Chattanooga has won three straight and shutout five of its last six opponents. Stillman tallied six saves and allowed only one goal.

The Spartans will host East Tennessee State Sunday at 2:00 p.m., while the Lady Mocs will host SoCon foe Appalachian State Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3:00 p.m. for its final home game of the season.
