Davidson, NC - UNCG freshman Abbi Meyer posted eight kills with a .412 hitting percentage, but it was not enough as Davidson swept the Spartans, 3-0 (30-22, 30-22 and 30-26), Saturday afternoon in Belk Arena.

The Spartans (7-16, 3-8) came out firing early in game one matching the Wildcats point for point. With the match tied, 22-22, Davidson (11-15, 4-6) reeled off the final eight points of game one to take the opening game, 30-22. Meridith Lorenz notched six kills for the Wildcats in the first game.

In game two, the Wildcats managed to stave off a tenacious Spartan attack fueled by LaJean Morrow to take a 2-0 match lead. Back-to-back blocks by Davidson keyed a 5-0 spurt that got the 'Cats to game point, 29-21, before Latisha Chapman finished the game with a kill. The Wildcats then took game three 30-26 despite the stellar defensive efforts of Rebekah Faulise.

Meyer paced the Spartans with her eight putaways and .412 attack percentage. Defensively, Morrow Faulise each amassed double-digit digs.

UNCG will travel to Georgia Southern tomorrow for a 2 pm match.
