Statesboro, GA - The UNC Greensboro volleyball team fell to Geogia Southern, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in Hanner Field House. With the loss, UNCG moves to 7-17 on the season and 3-9 in Southern Conference play.

"The kids played hard today with a lot of heart," said head coach Stacy Meadows-Kosciak. "It was the most excited and intense they have played all season and that is something we have to feed off of. If we come out fired up like we did in game three, then we will be able to walk away with some wins. It was somewhat of an injury prone trip for us, but we look forward to getting back into the gym this week and facing Elon on Tuesday."

The Spartans used an experimental lineup to open game one, which the Spartans dropped 30-11. After some minor changes, UNCG challenged the Eagles in game two. Lauren Richards came up with several big plays for the Spartans, but Georgia Southern managed to hang on for a 30-19 victory. In game three, UNCG put forth their most tenacious effort of the match, pushing the Eagles early behind the efforts of senior leaders LaJean Morrow and Kim Dayton. The Eagles, however, gained momentum late and took the game, 30-23.

Richards posted nine kills and a .278 hitting percentage to lead the Spartans offensively. Abbi Meyer tallied seven kills and a .250 hitting percentage, while Dayton chipped in with six kills. Adrian Hicks paced UNCG with 27 assists. Morrow added three service aces and 15 digs.

UNCG will return to action on Tuesday at 7 pm, as the Spartans host SoCon rival Elon.
