UNCG-Liberty Box Score

Lynchburg, VA - In a brief break from Southern Conference action, the UNC Greensboro volleyball team fell to Liberty, 3-0 (30-21,30-19, 30-21), Thursday evening, in the Vines Center.

Feeding off the efforts of Lauren Richards, the Spartans matched their Big South foe in the early stages of the match. Blocking, however, proved to be the key in the first game as a block solo by Janell Migeot followed by block assists by Becky Rudnick and Jennifer Belk keyed a seven-point run in the Lady Flames' opening-game victory.

After trading the first 10 points of game two, the Lady Flames recorded 12 of the contest's next 16 points to push out to an early advantage. The Spartans though would not go away as the offensive efforts of Lori Collins kept the Spartans close, but the Flames managed to hang on for the victory.

The final game proved to be similar to the first two games as the two teams swapped points to open the game as the score was tied at 9-9, only to see the Lady Flames make a late run to take the game, 30-21, and the match, 3-0.

UNC Greensboro (7-19, 3-10 SoCon) was paced by Lori Collins and Lauren Richards as both finished with a team-best six kills, while Kim Dayton led the squad with nine digs. Stephanie Elbe finished with a match-high 23 assists.

Belk and Erin McKeown led the Lady Flames with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while McKeown finished with a .300 hitting percentage. Migeot finished with a game-high 11 digs. Katie Smith finished with a team-high 22 assists.

The Spartans will return to action on November 4, as the Spartans visit Wofford at 7pm.
